Township Commissioner Nathan Silcox attended the dedication of two markers placed in Hampden Park describing the fighting at Sporting Hill on June 28 and June 30, 1863.  The fighting involved a brief artillery duel with the Confederates firing from Salem Church on the Carlisle Pike toward Union positions at Sporting Hill.  Eventually, the Confederates withdrew and joined Gen. Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia at Gettysburg.

Billy Fish, Township resident and Eagle Scout, leads a volunteer group in marking Township owned stromdrain inlets in his pursuit of the William T. Hornaday Award.  Over 240 inlets were marked by volunteers reminding residents that stormwater from the inlets drain to a local creek or watershed and that dumping of any foreign material is prohibited.  The project was completed at no cost the Township as Billy raised the funds necessary to cover the cost of materials and supplies through community based donations.  The Township Commissioners and Sewer Authority wish to recognize and congratulate Billy on the accomplishment of this project and his pursuit of the William T. Hornaday Award.

The VRC, a 501(c)3 organization, raised the funds to pay for Phase I of the project and obtained generous donations from Pennsy Supply and Dawood Engineering, Inc.

    Call Roth Lane Plant for Help
    Residents and commercial property owners who are experiencing a sanitary sewer blockage or backup are reminded to notify the Township Roth Lane Treatment Plant at 761-7963 before calling a plumber.
    Township staff will verify if the sewer main located in the street is open. If necessary, an inspection of the six-inch lateral from the sewer main to the curb or right-of-way will be scheduled during normal business hours.
