Backpack Project

Building BackpacksOnce again the Hampden Township Police Department will be working with the Cumberland Valley School District to provide backpacks and back-to-school supplies for students in need.  This is the third year of the program.

This program allows all children to start their school year feeling good about learning and knowing they have the essentials in order to make the most of their education.

The Department will be requesting donations of basic school supplies such as pens, pencils, headphones, scientific calculators, water bottles, and other items students would need.  Donations can be dropped off in a box located in the Police Department lobby located at 209 S. Sporting Hill Road, in Hampden Township.  Monetary donations can be made by first contacting Chief Steven Junkin at  717-761-2609.

We ask that all donations be dropped off by Wednesday, August 11, 2021 so that packs can be assembled and any shortages addressed.

Backpacks will be made available to all who request them (as supplies last) on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 9:00am-1:00pm.  Any family wishing to have a backpack made for their child can make a request to [email protected] with the subject line of "Backpack Project". Left over backpacks will be made available to each of the schools within Hampden Township by our School Resource Officer as additional students with needs are identified.
