IRS ROBO CALL SCAM

Numerous residents have reported receiving robo-calls from an entity identifying themselves as the IRS and stating the person owes back taxes. The call goes on to state the person must pay a certain amount of money immediately or face being arrested by IRS Agents.

THIS IS A SCAM- The Internal Revenue Service does not engage in robo-calls advising citizens of delinquent taxes owed nor do they threaten people over the phone for immediate payment or face incarceration.

If you receive a phone call from someone identifying themselves as a member of the IRS, do not provide them any personal information such as your date of birth, address, social security number or any bank information.

When in doubt, call the Internal Revenue Service at 717-782-2200.
