Hampden Township Storm Response - July 25, 2018

Township Emergency Management Officials are asking residents who live along the Conodoguinet Creek to be mindful of the rising water levels. The Conodoguinet Creek is predicted to crest Thursday evening at 9.6’. 10’ is the Moderate Flood Stage level. At this time, the Township does not expect any homes to be directly impacted by the forecast for floods but local streets along the creek will be impacted. Residents are asked to pay attention to the National Weather Service, or local news, to continue to monitor the forecasted flood stage.

Currently, Erb’s Bridge Road is closed to motorists due to floodwaters. For residents who live along Prowell Drive, the gate at the Conodoguinet Youth Park off of Orr’s Bridge Road and at the end of Prowell Drive by the Township pump station will remain open until the creek recedes.

As a reminder, due to the previous and continued forecast for heavy rains, residents who have an emergency situation are advised to call 911. Motorists are reminded not to drive over downed power lines or through standing water. Motorists are also reminded that a non-functioning traffic signal should be treated as a 4-way stop.

Phone numbers and contact information for problems with public utilities include:

PPL – 800-342-5775 (www.pplelectric.com/outagecenter)

PA American Water – 800-565-7292

UGI – 800-609-4844

Residents are reminded that trees on their property, which may be damaged due to the storm, are their responsibility to clean up. If a tree falls within the roadway, crews will clear the roadway by moving the fallen tree back onto the property from which it fell for safe travel and access by emergency responders. If a tree falls on a power line creating an immediate safety issue, call 911 to notify first responders. Power outages should be reported directly to PPL at 800-342-5775.
