Earth Day 2021 - Keep Hampden and Pennsylvania Beautiful

Earth Day 2021
Posted on 04/14/2021
Hampden Township has an official program for community-minded volunteers to Adopt a Highway or Township park.  While the Township desires to have representatives officially adopt a road or park, and be recognized and supported for doing so, it also wishes to promote Earth Day 2021 and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.  Any civic, social and school group, scout troop, business, home owner’s association or group of individuals, can voluntarily participate on their own in recognition of Earth Day.  Resources and information can be found at:  and
For details about Hampden’s official Adopt a Highway program, please review the following Township webpage.  Under the program, volunteers pick up litter utilizing Township-supplied trash bags and safety equipment.  The bags of litter are then left at the adopted roadside and picked up by the Township Public Works Department following the clean up.  Interested volunteers are required to adopt a highway (roadway/street), a portion of one, an interchange area or a recreation area for at least one year.  Groups who adopt a highway or park must agree to collect litter from the designated road or park at least twice a year, preferably in April and October.  Hampden Township thanks the current volunteers for their assistance with this beneficial community-wide service.  Individuals interested in this program may contact Hampden Township Manager, Keith B. Metts at or 717-761-0119.
Others may be interested in volunteering with the Conodoguinet Creek Watershed Association.  Hampden Township appreciates the efforts of this group as they perform various tasks such as coordinated creek clean up activities and planting of trees in riparian buffers.  Details about this non-profit organization and their efforts to protect the creek can be found at:
