Veterans Park

Veterans Park Sign

The Hampden Township Veterans Recognition Committee, in concert with Hampden Township, is developing the Hampden Township Veterans Park.  The Park is anchored by the Captain Leon Lock Veterans Memorial, where members of the community can gather for celebrations and observances.  It features an amphitheater concept centered on the American flag and the flags of the military branches that are visible from Interstate 81 and other area roadways.  Many members of the community have purchased engraved bricks to remember their service and that of their friends and neighbors, and more are available to be engraved.  It is a proud and public symbol for our veterans.

The Park’s entrance path features 12 points of remembrance recounting the military history of the United States.  A number of Eagle Scout projects have been completed, and more are planned.  These displays educate the public about the veterans who have participated in our nation’s conflicts.  The Park also serves as a gathering place for veterans and other residents to join their friends, families, and neighbors in observing Memorial Day and Veterans Day and ultimately as a place to forever remind us all of the sacrifices our veterans have made in war and in peace.

The Township is building a walking trail to allow visitors to enjoy more of the 17-acre Park.

The Park is open daily from dawn to dusk.  It is dog friendly provided your dog stays on a leash. Please pick up after your dogs and keep them away from the Points of Remembrance and the Memorial.
