HAMPDEN TOWNSHIP AWARDED CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR EXCELLENCE IN FINANCIAL REPORTING

On Tuesday, May 16, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) notified Hampden Township that it was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting of its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2021.  The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.  Hampden Township has voluntarily proceeded through the same review process in prior years, receiving the same level of recognition, and is pursuing the same efforts for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2022.  A link to the complete Annual Comprehensive Financial Report is available (here).

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Hampden Township elected officials and staff strive to not only meet, but exceed the financial reporting standards of the Commonwealth by embracing the GFOA reporting standards.  Additionally, Township officials and staff are actively engaged in the organization’s efforts to promote such standards.  In doing so, those individuals support the Government Finance Officers Association efforts to advance excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources and practical research for more than 21,000 members and their communities.
