Hampden Township Community Landmark Sign

Residents and motorists have likely noticed the new Hampden Township Community Landmark Sign located along Rte. 581, on Township property, as it nears completion of construction.  The Community Landmark Sign did not cost the Township or taxpayers any money to construct, rather it is being provided through a negotiated lease arrangement at no cost to the Township.  Further, the lease calls for payment to the Township of $60,000 annually for the first five years.  The annual lease payments will increase each five-year interval throughout the life of the lease.  The advertising company will also be responsible for the cost to maintain the sign and associated landscaping that surround the sign.  Restrictions are noted in lease which limit the type of advertisement opportunities that can be posted on the sign.

As an additional benefit, the Township and the Volunteer Fire Company will be permitted to place digital ads, free of charge, on the sign promoting community related events and recruitment efforts for volunteer firefighters.

The sign is unique to the Central Pennsylvania area, and Hampden Township is excited for it to be fully operational. The sign is also another example of various forms of media formats utilized to ensure communication with Township residents.  It will expand upon the notices already provided via Facebook, Nextdoor, electronic message boards on Township property, the Township website, e-mail blasts and the Township newsletter which inform many residents in various age groups about Hampden Township.
