WHERE PEOPLE COME FIRST

The Elks Lodge on North St. John’s Church Road has begun a special collection program to provide a myriad of items primarily to military personnel serving overseas. The Lodge has two collection points and there is one at the Township Building with signs suggesting items to donate. The donated items are placed in care packages and shipped to troops, especially to those in Afghanistan and Iraq. Some shipments also may go to other military personnel from Central Pennsylvania. Some of the suggested items to donate are all-cotton socks and warm clothing, insect repellent, shaving items, deodorants, coffee, snacks, beef jerky and word puzzles. Also, the Elks says the troops like letters from youngsters and items that kids make for them. More information is available from Dick Conklin at dickconklin8101@verizon.net.
