  • YARD WASTE FACILITY NOW OPEN

    Residents of Hampden Township may dispose of their yard waste at the Public Works Facility. The yard waste facility remains open from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, without an appointment.   Starting April 1, the facility will be open the first and third Saturday of each month from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm without an appointment .   A Resident ID card is required and residents are asked to enter the drop-off site from Technology Parkway in the Cumberland Technology ParkThe facility is closed on holidays and during inclement weather.

    Leaf compost and tan bark will no longer be available in the parks but can be picked up at the Yard Waste Facility while supplies last.  The product must be loaded by the resident and no private-loading equipment will be permitted on the premises.  Product picked up at the Yard Waste Facility will continue to be free of charge. 


    DELIVERY OF

    TAN BARK AND LEAF COMPOST

    Township residents also have the option of having tan bark or leaf compost delivered to their residential property located within the Township.  The cost for delivery is $75.00 for up to 8 cubic yards.  A Release/Agreement Form must be completed and payment made at the Hampden Township Municipal Building by Visa, Mastercard or check payable to Hampden Township.  The product will be delivered as soon as possible after receipt by the Township of the Release and Agreement Form and payment of the delivery cost.  The Release and Agreement Form is available at the Township Municipal Building or at the Township web site under General Information, "On Line Forms".  Product will be delivered and placed only on the resident's driveway, not in a public right-of-way, i.e., street, sidewalk, etc. 


    Commercial landscapers will be allowed unlimited drop off at the Yard Waste Facility, even if the waste was not generated within Hampden Township.  An application must be completed and payment made at the Hampden Township Municipal Building prior to a commercial landscaper's vehicle arriving at the Yard Waste Facility.  The vehicle must be identified with the company's logo.  An application form is available at the Township Municipal Building or at the Township web site under General Information, "On Line Forms".  The cost to a commercial landscaper is $200.00 annually.

    On Wertzville Rd. going East towards Enola, turn right onto Technology Parkway off Wertzville Rd.
    Continue straight on this road. Once you pass Patriot News Drive, look for the second left. Take
    that left, it will lead to the Public Works Facilityl.

    On Wertzville Rd. going West towards Carlisle, turn left onto Technology Parkway off Wertzville Rd.
    Continue straight on this road. Once you pass Patriot News Drive, look for the second left. Take
    that left, it will lead to the Public Works Facility.



     





    RULES AND REGULATIONS
    FOR COMPOST FACILITY

     

    HAMPDEN TOWNSHIP RESIDENT ID CARD REQUIRED

    1. Compost Facility will be open from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, without an appointment but is closed Saturdays until April 1, 2008.  Starting April 1st, the facility will be open the first and third Saturday of each month from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm without an appointment .   You may only dump when your load has been inspected and you have received permission and instructions from the site attendant!!

    2. You must be a Hampden Township Resident with a current Hampden Township Resident ID Card. Please show ID card to attendant.

    3. Acceptable Items: Christmas trees, shrubs (no roots) and shrubbery clippings and branches cut into 6 foot lengths and no larger than 12 inches in diameter.
    4. The attendant has final say as to whether you may unload or not.
    5. NOT ACCEPTABLE: leaves, stumps, grass clippings, garbage, bulk items, dirt, stones, bricks, construction debris, concrete, hazardous materials, charcoal, fruits and/or vegetables, bags or containers.
    6. Attendant is not permitted to load or unload material
    7. No dumping while site is closed or unattended.
