2017 ROAD RESURFACING PROJECTS

Work associated with the Township’s 2016 Road Resurfacing Project will extend into the spring of 2017. This work is associated with the Township contract awarded to Pennsy Supply, Inc., and their subcontractors, to resurface over 20 miles of streets and roads, install one mile of storm water drainage lines, restore or replace 130 storm water inlets and construct or replace 180 curb ramps to comply with the American Disabilities Act. The streets scheduled to be resurfaced, as a result of this project, were approved after a comprehensive inspection and review of the 100 plus miles of all Township-owned streets. The project commenced in 2015 and is expected to be finished in May of 2017.

Additional paving is anticipated to occur in the Noll Acres and Highlands of Hampden Square developments in 2017. Following is a link to a project map which depicts the roads to be paved in 2017. (Click Here)

Weather permitting, crews are permitted to work weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Contractors may need to work longer hours to ensure the project is completed in a timely manner. Motorists should expect delays and one-lane traffic patterns which, for safety reasons, will be controlled by flaggers. While there will be delays, with possible local road closures at times, access to developments and properties will be maintained throughout the project. Mail delivery, trash service and access to emergency responders will not be disrupted.

The contractor will use message boards and notices to residents to inform the public about the project schedule, on-street parking restrictions and temporary road closures. The Township and Pennsy Supply, Inc. request that residents provide cooperation regarding parking restrictions on the streets in the areas affected by this project. When notified to do so, please make every effort to park your vehicle(s) elsewhere. Motorists should be alert while traveling through the project area and pay attention to flaggers.

Residents are also directed to not place trash or recycling bins/toters in the roadway once notice of a paving schedule and parking restriction is posted along a specific street. Please also remove temporary basketball backboards from the curb line.

When feasible, motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the project areas while work is ongoing. If a motorist notices paving material on their car, after traveling through the project area, he/she is encouraged to wash the car as soon as possible to remove the material.

More details will be available about the projects, in the coming weeks, to include progress updates and notices about specific areas where work will be occurring. Please continue to refer to the Township’s website for additional details. You may also register for e-mail notifications about the current status of the project by registering your contact information below.

Thanks, in advance, for your patience while we undergo these much needed projects.
