HAMPDEN TOWNSHIP CITIZENS’ POLICE ACADEMY FOR RESIDENTS

The Hampden Township Police Department will once again conduct its Citizens’ Police Academy this fall. The Academy classes are conducted at the Police Department once a week for eight weeks from Wednesday September 21 through Wednesday November 9th. The course syllabus includes instruction and scenario based training on various aspects of law enforcement.

Objectives include:

  • An overview of the criminal justice system
  • DUI and its enforcement
  • Firearms safety, use of force and defensive tactics
  • Patrol procedures, traffic stops, speed enforcement and officer safety
  • Criminal investigations
  • Forensics
  • Domestic crimes, custody disputes and missing children
  • The various roles of the Judicial system
  • The role of the Victim’s Advocate

There is no fee for this program. The program will not be held unless we have a minimum of 15 participants, but no more than 20 participants.
