MAINTENANCE WORKERS

Hours of Work:

The Seasonal Laborer will work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned by supervisor.   The employee shall receive one-half hour unpaid lunch.   All federal and state requirements for minors shall apply.  

Place of Work:

The Seasonal Laborer may be based at various buildings throughout the Township but will report to the Public Works Department Building for the start of each shift.  

General Description:

The Seasonal Laborer is responsible for assisting with a high-level repair and maintenance program of Township-owned property to include grounds, roads and facilities.  

Essential Functions:

Assists with repairs and maintenance of highway surfaces, drainage ditches and culverts, guide rail, parking lots and bike/walking/golf cart paths.  

Assists with grooming and maintaining all building grounds, golf course, parks and athletic fields and the pool.  
Assists with leaf collection and clearing Township streets, parking lots and sidewalks of snow and ice.  
Assists with repairs and maintenance of all buildings, including but not limited to carpentry, masonry, painting, electrical, plumbing and HVAC.  

Provides custodial service to all Township facilities including but not limited to housekeeping and trash and recyclable removal.  

Assists with the collection and processing of yard waste and delivery of tan bark and leaf compost.  
Reports to supervisor any equipment breakage or need for repair; reports faulty safety devices or any other safety concerns or suggestions.  
Observes all safety rules and regulations of the Township.  
Performs other related duties as assigned.  

Qualifications:

Current PA Driver's License

Ability to understand and follow direction with minimal supervision.  

Ability to communicate with staff and the public in a positive, polite, effective manner.  

Ability to operate/learn to operate equipment and hand tools.  

Ability to perform manual tasks or operate equipment for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions and lift objects up to 50 pounds waist high.
