2018 Street Resurfacing Project Notice
Hampden Township awarded the 2018 street resurfacing contract to Kinsley Construction, Inc. The scope of the project includes resurfacing approximately 6.5 miles of streets, installation and reconstruction of associated stormwater drainage lines and stormwater inlets along with the installation of 39 sidewalk curb cuts to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The streets scheduled to be resurfaced, as a result of this project, were approved after a comprehensive inspection and review of the 120 plus miles of all Township-owned streets. Work is anticipated to begin on June 4 and be completed by October 15, 2018. The following tentative schedule is subject to weather and site conditions:
– Countryside development – June 4 to July 6
– Point Ridge development – June 25 to July 27
– Oakwood Park development – July 23 to August 17
– Clearview development – August 6 to October 5
Highlands of Hampden – September 24 to October 15
Hours of work will generally be limited to weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists should expect modified traffic patterns which will be controlled by certified flaggers to ensure safety.
There may be limited local road closures at times, however access to developments and properties will be maintained throughout the project. Mail delivery, trash service and access to emergency responders will not be disrupted.
The contractor will use message boards and issue notices to residents regarding the project schedule, on-street parking restrictions and temporary road closures. The Township and Kinsley Construction, Inc. request that residents comply with parking restrictions and make every effort to park your vehicle(s) elsewhere. Additionally, we asked that trash/recycling bins and temporary basketball backboards not be placed in the roadway once notice of a paving schedule and parking restriction is posted along a specific street. These efforts will speed construction and help limit any inconvenience the project may cause.
When feasible, motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the project areas while work is ongoing. If a motorist notices paving material on their car, after traveling through the project area, he/she is encouraged to wash the car as soon as possible to remove the material.
